Kettering believes pay-it-forward is a foundational and core value of executive leadership and our organization. One of our most significant opportunities to pay-it-forward is our ongoing relationship with YearUp.

YearUp’s mission is to close the Opportunity Divide by ensuring that young adults gain the skills, experiences, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through careers and higher education.

YearUp is a one-year, intensive training program that provides talented and motivated, yet under-served young adults, ages 18-24, with a combination of hands-on skills development, coursework eligible for college credit, corporate internships, and wraparound support.
For the first six months of the program, students develop technical and professional skills in the classroom. Students then apply those skills during the second six months on an internship at one of YearUp’s corporate partners.

Kettering Year Up Mentor Volunteer

During their internship, YearUp students opt-in to being supported by an external mentor who can help them navigate a professional environment. Kettering is proud that many of our members volunteer to act as mentors for YearUp. If you are willing to serve as a mentor for a YearUp student, and would like to find out more, please email info@ketteringsuccess.org and a member of the Kettering YearUp team will contact you.
